Vincenzo Bellini (3 November 1801 - 23 September 1835) was an Italian opera composer born in Sicily. He wrote 10 operas, of which Søvngængersken (1831), Norma (1831; herein aria "Casta diva") and Puritans.

Bellini also wrote a obokoncertino, a handful of solo songs and choral works for church. In addition, he wrote symphonies and chamber music....

Bellini also wrote a obokoncertino, a handful of solo songs and choral works for church. In addition, he wrote symphonies and chamber music. He was a pupil of Zingarelli, but learned presumed to be most self-study of Haydn, Mozart and Pergolesi. He broke through in 1827 with his first opera Il Pirata and won world renown with I Capuleti ed Montecchi in "Romeo and Juliet", 1831).
