He is regarded as Spain's most important composers in recent times. He has written three operas. La vida letters, two ballets. Ritual fire dance / El amor brujo (1915), El sombrero de tres picos / The triangular hat (1919), Fantasia Baetica and Pieces espagnoles, Psyche, Siete canciones Populares Espanolas (1922) Harpsichord Concerto (1926), Nights in Spanish Gardens, L 'Atlantida.

De Falla lived in the years 1907-1914 in Paris, where he met some composers who had an influence on his style of writing, these were among other impressionists Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy and Paul Dukas. He wrote, however, not much more before he returned to Madrid at the beginning of the First World War. During this period, his best known works.

De Falla tried to stop the murder of his best friend, the poet Federico García Lorca in 1936, but he failed. Subsequently joined Francisco Franco's victory in the Spanish Civil War, and de Falla left Spain and moved to Argentina. Then he wrote no more music. He died in Alta Gracia, in the Argentine province of Córdoba. In 1947, his remains brought to Spain and placed in the Cathedral of Cadiz.
