Alban Berg (9 February 1885 - 24 December 1935) was an Austrian composer. He was a pupil of Arnold Schoenberg and, together with this and Anton Webern the dominant figure in the twelve-tone music.

Berg's Best known and cherished work is the Violin Concerto. But the highlight must also "Three orchestral pieces" opus 6, along with "Lyric Suite" from "Lulu" is found in a recording with Herbert von Karajan.

Alban Berg's Violin Concerto bears the subtitle "in memory of an angel". The angel was dead Manon Gropius, as Alban Berg was violently in love in. Berg died in Vienna, apparently from blood poisoning after being bitten / stung by an insect.
