RCA Living Stereo - CD.
Some of the best purely audio on CD is RCA Living Stereo. It was then that you cried for the details and the sound. Most also have a really nice stereo perspective, a natural sound, good sense of space and lots of dynamics.
Unfortunately, you cannot buy them as 'loose' CDs anymore. Only in two large blocks of 60 CDs each. I don't think that's fair, so I've split some of my bricks up and offer you them separately. The time they were to buy 'loose' they were all normal full-price CD's, but I did sell them at mid-price.
Note that instead of the usual plastic packaging, they are all enclosed in a cardboard cover where all the relevant information is behind. The packaging is also scratch-free.
Try, you won't be disappointed!
|Lorin Maazel (1930-2014) was an American conductor and violinist who in the 1990s was the highest-paid conductor in the world. He was in charge of both the Cleveland Orchestra and Phittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Although Maazel has made many good recordings were he known bit like Solti, to be something of an effect hunter. |

Colin Davis is probably the best known of the newer English conductors. He died in 2013 as a 84 year old. He was unbelievably productive and reached in his 40 year career record in the region of 1,000 works. Some of them more than once. He was especially recognized for his interpretations of Berlioz, Mozart, Sibelius and Tippett.
