Gustav Mahler was an Austrian composer who lived between 1860 and 1911. During his lifetime, he was first and foremost considered one of the most important conductors; The recognition of his work as a composer came only half a century after his death.
His main works are the ten symphonies, of which the 10 is incomplete (but the music researcher Derek Cooke has completed it) as well as the symphonic song cycles; The song of the Erde and the wonderful Wunderhorn.

Bohuslav Martinu (8th december 1890 in East Bohemia - 28 august 1959 in Liestal in Basel) was Czech composer and violinist. He lived for some years in Paris and moved in 1941 to the U.S.. His principal works are 6 symphonies, he also wrote ballets and opera. He is the most significant Czech composer after Janacek. His musical language is tonal and rhythmic characteristic with influences from Stravinsky and modern French music. Martinu is a composer who has never been reflected in Denmark, for whatever reason, it is excellent music, and do you like Bruckner and Mahler, you are guaranteed also like Martinu!

Mascagni was an Italian composer (1863-1945) who wrote 17 operas, including his masterpiece from 1890 Cavalleria rusticana was a pure sensation when it was built. Since it has become one of the most popular Italian operas at all.
The story takes place in Sicily in the late 19th century. The opera is a one-act play and are often constructed with Leoncavallos Bajadser.

Jules Émile Frédéric Massenet (May 12, 1842 - August 13, 1912) was a French composer. He is best known for his operas, which were very popular in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-1847) was a German composer and conductor. Mendelssohn composed in a variety of genres. He's most famous works are: Violin Concerto in E minor (opus 64, from 1844). The overture to A Midsummer Night's Dream (opus 61, 1843). Symphony no. 4, The Italian (1833).

Modest Mussorgsky (21 March 1839 - 28 March 1881) was a Russian composer and pianist.
Modest Mussorgskys musical training was deficient, and his problems with alcohol contributed to some projects were never finished. But his originality has given him a prominent place among Russian composers.
His principal work is probably the opera Boris Godunov; but perhaps did Mussorgsky his best in his songs and in the piano work Pictures at an Exhibition. It was inspired by a memorial exhibition of the painter Victor Hartmann, Mussorgskys friend. Contemporaries was not interested in the piano work. Only then Maurice Ravel made an orchestral version was created attention for the work. Later also Dmitri Shostakovich made an orchestral adaptation.
