His principal works are 6 symphonies, he also wrote ballets and opera. He is the most significant Czech composer after Janacek. His musical language is tonal and rhythmic characteristic with influences from Stravinsky and modern French music. Martinu is a composer who has never been reflected in Denmark, for whatever reason, it is excellent music, and do you like Bruckner and Mahler, you are guaranteed also like Martinu!
