As a conductor was Mendelssohn's main effort to revive interest in Johann Sebastian Bach.

Although he wrote five symphonies, six overtures. As well as 12 symphonies for strings. Six concerts. Six choral works. Six organ sonatas. Lieder ohne Worte. 55 choral songs. 48 songs with piano. Octet opus 20 mm.

He was soon famous all over Europe because of its octet and A Midsummer Night's Dream with the Wedding March, which is one of his most performed works.
