The companies send one mammoth box on the market after another, while there deleted all the individual CDs. Fine enough if one is worshiping a soloist or conductor as a god. But no artist is equally good at it all. And if you like Mozart you hardly hear Szymanovski or vice versa. It is just like the TV packages, you buy access to 20 channels but only bother to watch the 3.
I've made it one of my specialties to split many of these giant boxes so that you can choose what you want from a specific artist here, without being forced to buy everything else. Prices are about 30-60% lower than the original plastic cover CD and many of them you can not buy as "normal" single CD any more.
Currently i have split about 50 of the most popular mammoth sets, resulting in around 1,350 single CDs, a section I am constantly expanding and have grouped them all into one major category. Prices range from DKK 59 to DKK 79 pr. CD. These CDs are all enclosed in a sturdy cardboard case with all the relevant data on the back. Often there is more content on these CDs than there is on the originals. And the front pages are often the same. You can see the difference between them and the regular CD's. If after the CD number (on the Plade-Klassikeren's side it is called reference number) is a large –P (= cardboard cover) is added. If there is no –P after the record number, it is a regular CD in a normal plastic cover.
