The reason is that the plates come from the United States, (most, however, were printed by EMI and Decca in England, or at EMI and Deutsche Grammophon in Germany) and in the U.S., dealers have had the right to return to full price. So to avoid that smart retailers have repurchased residual inventories and sent them back yet again, the companies have chosen this simple solution.
